Youth draw inspiration from the Kakori action

On 19th December 2017, Hind Naujawan Ekta Sabha organised a public meeting in Ramgarh, Rajasthan to mark 90th anniversary of the martyrdom of the youth who had dared to challenge the British by looting the British treasury from a train near Kakori, UP. The train robbery incident was organised by the Hindostan Republican Association (HRA) and took place on 9th August 1925. The colonial government had awarded death punishment to Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri in this case.

Speakers spoke in glowing terms about the bold activities of the youth of HRA and pointed out that the robbery was organised to obtain funds for revolutionary activities of the organisation. The aim of the revolutionaries was to throw the British out of India so that Indian people could take the reigns of power in India in their own hands. The revolutionaries did not rob any Indian passengers on the train.

This incident shook the British rulers and increased the prestige of revolutionaries in the eyes of the people. The British were ruthless in punishing the revolutionaries. More than a dozen youth were imprisoned and given hard punishments including kala paani. This act of the revolutionaries inspired thousands of youth to take up the cause of India’s freedom. The speakers also explained how people are still oppressed since the same exploitative rule is continued by the rulers. They continue to divide our people in the name of religion, caste, etc. Today also, the times are calling on the youth to take up the cause of freedom of our people from hunger, exploitation, communal attacks and violation of rights.

The meeting greatly inspired the youth and the meeting hall reverberated with slogans like, “Long live the martyrs of the Kakori case!”, “Inquilab zindabad!”.
